My Fake Fiance BY: Lisa Scott

My Fake Fiance *A Short Story* BY: Lisa Scott

I found this book free on my Nook & I was pleasantly pleased with how good it was. Plus it was a quick read that I got through fast. This book is the 1st one of 5 books in the Wedding Flirts Series. I cannot wait to read the other short story series that she has.

Samantha has been invited to more Weddings these past few years then she can count on two hands, but when Samantha's invited to an old friend's Wedding, (More like frenemey), she feels that she has to find a date and fast! Samantha doesn't want to show up looking like a loser and dateless and since the clock is ticking until her frenemey's wedding it looks like that is how it is going to be until she meets a cute guy at a bar that her roommate bartenders at. The two hit it off and Samantha hires him to be her fake fiance for the wedding.

Everything is going great until they both start falling for each other for real. Can they tell each other how they really feel? And will Samantha be able to return the favor to her fake Fiance by pretending to be his fake Fiance?

A Family Affair

I found this book on my Nook for free. At first I was surprised by how long the book was (about 558 pages) But I got through the book fairly fast.

Christine Blacksworth is a driven, hardworking women in her mid twenties that is a part of running her father's corporate business. Her life changes forever when her father Charlie dies in a car accident on an icy road while he was at his cabin in the mountains 700 miles from their family home. Charlie would go to the cabin four days out of the month to take a break from his high demanding corporate job. Charlie's will is divided up and part of the money is left to Lily Desantro. Christine is confused on who this women is so she goes to the cabin to find out more information about Lily.
It turns out that Charlie was living with another woman four days out of the month and he had another family. The other woman's name was Miriam and they ended up having a daughter named Lily who is 13 years old and she has down syndrome. As Christine is trying to piece together everything she ends up having a relationship with Miriam and her half sister Lily. Christine feels like she has really found herself through the Desantros and she starts to understand how her father felt when he visited his other family.

Two problems that come up are Nate, who is Miriam's son who hated Charlie and what he did and Nate transfers it hostility to Christine. The other is Christine's alcoholic, pain-killer addicted mother, who has no idea that the Desantros' exist or where Christine is now going regularly.   Or does she?
I would recommend this book and it raises a lot of questions on family relationships and family honor. For being a free Nook Book this book was amazing.

Christmas Gifts *Books* 2012

Sadly the Holidays are over. All that hype and planning and it is over in one day. Needless to say I had an amazing Christmas with my family and I am so grateful for everything that I have. There is nothing better than spending time with family, eating, and seeing your loved ones open gifts and seeing the looks on their faces.

A lot happened this month. I graduated from College with my Bachelor's Degree. (Finally) :) I decided not to walk at Graduation but instead I took a trip with my boyfriend to St. Augustine, & we had a great time. It was nice to get away & it was a place we've always wanted to visit.

(This is me at the fort in St. Augustine.)
Now for the point of this blog. BOOKS!! I got a lot of nice things for Christmas including books, which I was really excited about.

I was super excited when I got the Walking Dead, The Road to Woodbury book. The Walking Dead is a great series & I am really excited to start the book series by Robert Kirkman. This is the 2nd book in the series. The first one is called The Rise of the Governor.
I also got the Watersong series by Amanda Hockings. I only have the first 2 books which are Wake & Lullaby. I believe she is currently writing the 3rd book now & I know there will be a 4th one too. I will most likely start these books right after I finish the 2 I'm currently reading.
& who can forget my Leslie Meier books. I love her writing & I was really surprised how much I enjoyed the Trick or Treat Murder book by her. She has a whole series of these. I received Mother's Day Murder, English Tea Murder, Star Spangled Murder, St. Patrick's Day Murder, and Wicked Witch Murder. I love reading her Holiday Murder Books during the Holidays.
& I also got If She Only Knew by Lisa Jackson. I found this book when I was browsing the book section in Target (which I do about 3 times a week) & I came across this book & it seemed really interesting. This book was also exclusively to Target and I did some research and there is a 2nd one that is already out too which makes me happy.
I hope everyone had an amazing Holiday & Happy Reading!

So it's November 1st. So excited to celebrate my birthday with my family in a week, & hopefully get some new books!

Every so often I try to find free books on my nook. I love my nook & I also love paper books too, But sometimes I don't always bring my paper books with me, & that's where my nook comes in. Plus I have an app on my phone for the nook & since I always have my phone I can read pretty much anywhere.

I always am reading a book on my nook & a paper book at the same time.

So here are some nook books that I found that are FREE & that seemed interesting to me..... Enjoy

So it's Halloween, and what am I doing? Absolutely nothing. So far we haven't had that many trick or treaters. And I'm busy eating all of the Reese's, My Favorite! This month has flew by. We ended up not carving a pumpkin this year. Time just got away from us.
I love watching scary movies on Halloween, or just in general. I think I have actually seen the Halloween movie at least 6 times, thanks to my b/f who is a Scary movie maniac. He loves them including Freddy & Jason among many others. But movies I loved when I was younger was Hocus Pocus & Halloweentown. Halloweentown was on the Disney Channel. Hey I was born in the 80's & the movie was pretty good when I was younger. lol

One thing I have always wanted to do is a corn maze. It would be so much fun but also creepy & a little scary all at the same time. Has anyone done one?? I don't know but something about Halloween brings the kid out inside of me. Anyways one day I will do this!

& I wish it was cold enough to have warm apple cider. I love this stuff!
I hope everyone had an amazing Halloween!! Until next time. =)

What I Love about Fall!

Fall is my favorite time of year. Something about it just makes me happy. I love the cool weather plus all of the fall scents, colors, Halloween decorations, and I get to wear boots. I live in Florida so cold weather is very hard to come by. The only thing missing is seeing the leaves change.

Plus I had to get a good Halloween book in there. The book I'm currently reading is the Trick or Treat Murder by Leslie Meier. I got this book last year during the month of October but I never got around to reading it. I love myself a good mystery, especially if I'm curled up reading & drinking hot coco. So far this book is pretty good.
I love fall candles as well. Nothing like having your house smell like delicious bakery scents. And did I mention Pumpkin Pie, My favorite!

Another great book I read for October was Fang Girl by Helen Keeble. I actually won this book on Goodreads which was really exciting! This book was fast paced & a great laugh. The characters were so funny & it had a lot of action. It was basically about a girl who wakes up in a coffin to realize that she is now a vampire. Jane is trying to adjust to her new vampire body & her blood cravings, while being attacked by vampire hunters who would do anything to see her dead. Throughout her ordeal she is constantly entertaining.

The Brown House

The Brown House by: Christy Sloat

I wished I would have read this book in October for my to be read book list. This book was amazing & absolutely creepy. This book was fast paced all the way through and I love books like that. This book was a great Paranormal read.

Did I mention that this book is a series? I cannot wait until the 2nd book comes out. I emailed the author and asked her when the 2nd book is coming out and she said next Summer/ Spring 2013. And the book is going to be called The Red Key.

Brylee is the main character in this book. Her dad looses his job and her and her parents have to move to New Jersey into this creepy looking brown house. Everyone in her school is so surprised when they find out that someone is actually living in that house and they tell her that it's Haunted! While exploring the house Brylee meets a girl named Lyn, who tells her that the house is haunted.

*SPOILER ALERT* Kayla is actually a ghost. I guessed this way at the beginning of the book because it was obvious that no one else could see her & she kept disappearing really fast.

Weird & scary things start to happen in the house. She then meets her neighbors named Lyn & her brother Ephriam. They are around the same age as her & Lyn informs Brylee that her house is CURSED! Brylee & Lyn become really good friends & she soon start to date  her brother Ephraim. She has her 2 best friends to share all of her ghost haunting incidents with.

They try to break the curse together and to help the ghosts to finally find peace but things get from BAD to WORSE...

Now the 2 people she cares about most are the ones who are now cursed.
Time is running out & if she doesn't find a solution soon she will loose her best friend & boyfriend forever....

Until the next book. Happy Reading!   =)
